I think Humpty Dumpty is fitting. I can't help but wonder when they'll get City Park back together again.
There has been a lot written lately in the news about City Park and how they are moving forward with their master plan that they developed before the storm. But as they move forward with their master plan their three (or if you count the south course) four Golf courses remain closed.
Now if I can just shoot off my opinion on the "Master Plan" Just for a minute... I think they should get one of those golf courses opened ASAP. Golf was a major revenue source for the park and instead of playing around with the plan they should start getting some money flowing. But not here. I never (rarely) give you those stereotypical views of this area.
This is a photo from the Tomato Festival in Chalmette. This is my grammar school church fair, so for me growing up this was the year's big event.
It meant funnel cakes and rides. And putting disappearing ink in water guns and chasing your friends around.
Since the storm the Tomato Festival has meant a lot more to the people of Chalmette. It was only 8 months after the storm and yet it was not canceled. It turned in to a place to meet and greet old friends again. It showed the will of the residents that didn't have homes, but still took the time out to put the fair on.
This year was the second since the storm and the 56th Tomato Festival. A chance to meet and greet old friends and enjoy food fun and great music.
If you're from around here you know that there are MANY MANY festivals of all sorts going on around this time of year. And I suspect that there is one (which ever one it is) that you wouldn't miss for the world.Pedeauxhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07451612300156378706noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3471968590411656646.post-82535164719153805832007-02-26T19:36:00.000-06:002007-02-26T20:09:15.202-06:00Louisiana Derby Preview Day
How often do you make it down to the Fairgrounds? If you're like me the answer is not often. But I went on Louisiana Derby Preview day, and came away with this picture of the horses out of the gate. If you missed preview day you can still catch the 94th running of the Louisiana Derby on Saturday, March 10th at the fairgrounds and see these horses run again! I may just have to go. This photo taken this week shows the newly redone Customs House on the newly redone Canal Street. As you can see the new palm trees are up, the new sidewalks are in, and there is no trash anywhere. Now we just need to keep it up!!! And also if this one part of the city can get cleaned up maybe there is hope for other parts as well.Pedeauxhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07451612300156378706noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3471968590411656646.post-47011311951802050152007-01-30T04:53:00.000-06:002007-01-30T04:55:13.668-06:00Newsie NewsIn my attempts to get this Photography Blog out of Beta an in to the main stream I've added a news feed to my photo blog. Zeus was the first night parade to roll outside of Orleans.

The parade began at 41st Street and Severn (Rummel High School) and turned right on Metairie Road. Then it took a left on Bonnabel to Hesoid Street and then turned back from Bonnabel to Metairie Road, and ended at Focis Street.

So, I was there with my camera to catch a parade on Metairie Road.
